DESCRIPTION:
Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tarcoles River forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild, with some up to twenty feet long and can live for 60 years!. So big they have names like “Saddam Hussein” and “Mike Tyson!”

In addition, over fifty different birds species can be seen on site .During your boat ride, you may see Scarlet Macaws and a variety of resident and migrant waterfowls, iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards

Board a custom-built, flat-bottom river boat at our private botanical garden. Then, glide along this placid river with our naturalist guide, who describes the birds, animals, and habitat in great detail. After visiting the river mouth, you venture up a mature mangrove estuary, where the guide stops to learn about this remarkable ecosystem. After enjoying fresh fruit and refreshments, you slowly return upstream to the native botanic garden, where our guide explains more about the native plant species of this transitional zone habitat.

After this experience, a short drive to one of the most beautiful souvenir’s stores in the area will complement this tour, where you will have some free time for get that special gift or enjoy your favourite drink at the river overlooking porch of this beautiful complex.

WHAT´S TO BRING	Camera, hiking shoes, binoculars, sunscream and hat.
PRIVATE SERVICE	We offer the possibility to make this tour PRIVATE (Bus & Guide) for an additional fee of 20% of the regular rate and with a minimum of 6 participants. Activities (boats, zip line, wagon, etc,) are operated in a regular basis and depending on supplier’s demand. These activities can not be private.

Operational Notes

• Round trip transport between the ship and attractions.
• The meeting point is at the entrance of the pier for cruise ships arriving to puntarenas and gangway for cruise ships arriving into Puerto Caldera.
• Our guides will be at pier with a sign and the name of the tour on it.
• All buses have A/C
• Buses for 44 or 52 passengers have toilet.
• Size of the boat depends on the size of the groups: 10, 20 and 45 pax boats are available.
• This tour has been designated an environmentally sensitive tour.
• All tour guides are bi-lingual English – Spanish. For other languages please make the request in advance.
• During this tour, in some places there is no shade, pax should bring sunscream, a hat, sunglases, etc.
• During the rainy season, Sep- Nov, pax should expect some rain. Pax should bring a raincoat.
• Greenway Tours suggests pax to bring mosquito spray for beach and rain forest tours.
• Greenway Tours buses are equipped with First-Aid Kit in case of accidents.
• Pax should wear comfortable shoes.
• Pax should be advised to bring a backpack to store cameras, film, sunscream and any other belongings for easy travel.
• This tour is designed for the whole family.

• 80 minutes bus ride to Tarcoles River.
• 90 minutes boat trip on the river.
• 20 minutes for refreshments and tropical fruits.
• 20 minutes drive to the souvenir’s store.
• 45 minutes free time for shopping or enjoy the place.
• 60 minutes bus ride to the pier.
