SAN JOSE CITY TOUR

Enjoy this full-day excursion through Costa Rica's incomparable landscape of lush valleys and green pasturelands, past small townships en route to San Jose, the country's cosmopolitan capital, with its Latin flavour and a wonderful European accent. Starting early in the morning, your motor coach will take the Pan American Highway to San Jose, one of the most scenic roads in all of Costa Rica. Passing the small towns of San Ramon and Naranjo. During your drive, you'll catch a glimpse of Costa Rica's world-famous coffee plantations before arriving in the capital city of San Jose. Here you'll take in such sights as Las Sabana Park, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Stadium, and the landmark National Theater. With its ornate 19th-century, neo-Classical architecture, elaborate murals and gilded baroque fixtures, this is by far the most beautiful building in Costa Rica. You will then drive through the exclusive residential area of Rohrmoser (Pavas) and visit the National Museum. This former military fortress now houses a vast collection of archaeological and historic artifacts. A special luncheon buffet of Costa Rican dishes will be served at a nice restaurant close to San Jose. Your return journey to the Pacific Coast takes you back along the Pan American Highway for a shopping visit to the rural village of Sarchi, famed for its colourful ox carts and handsomely crafted woodwork. Rejoin the highway and continue your dramatic drive through the foothills and coffee plantations down to the lowland sugarcane country. You will arrive at the ship after a very full and rewarding day
